How to avoid drowsiness before Important Meeting

In metro cities like Delhi and Mumbai, corporate meetings aren’t the preferred workplace activities, still there are no options available for people to run away from them in day-to-day routine. The situation becomes more complex, when you feel drowsy in a post-lunch meeting. Post lunchtime, your body is occupied in the digestion process that shifts the attention from work. But there are ways that can help you achieve more from corporate meetings and make you feel less sleepy.

Avoid Heavy Lunch

Kick start your day with heavy breakfast and split your further meals in two or more sections. The body can work efficiently and help you not to shift the focus and avoid mistakes. It is also important to include protein, fibre and limited amount of carbs in the food.

Be in company of Funny Bones

There are days when the weather doesn’t allow you to go for a walk. In such a situation, you can look for funny videos, jokes, articles and pictures on the internet and make a shift without much of a hassle. If in case computers or laptops are not accessible, interact with co-workers and crack jokes. Think outside the daily boring routine and seek the company of others that will not just help you feel active, but also, enable you to network within the peers.

On the go with Coffee

Keeping meeting within four walls make things more boring for all. If the participants are less in numbers and you don’t need to share any confidential information, prefer to do meetings on the go. The trend is changing in the metro cities, as people are becoming more aware of the human needs and ready to look for cooler ways to make things interesting. On the go meetings, where you discuss important things while having coffee or tea with the clients or peers are becoming more popular. Researches show that standing meetings can improve employee productivity, rather than the conventional way.

Keep your Desk Alive

A vibrant workplace contributes a lot when it comes to kill the afternoon drowsiness. On the other hand, an unorganized cubicle or dull desk makes you feel more lazy and monotonous. You can keep funny posters, photographs of your friends or family or anything that may please you visually.

Go for a Walk

The human body is designed for physical activities and not for long hours of desk job, where you are most of the time sitting and restricting your body from any action. The body feels good when you exercise or go for a walk. In your routine, when your body demands rest, just get up and go for a walk. Running up and down on the stairs or a quick walk will immediately kill the drowsy feeling, boost your blood circulation and make you feel more energized.

There are many other way outs like washing your face, meditating for 5-10 minutes, taking a power nap, having a coffee or a glass of water and many more. As per your convenience and time in hand, you can use many creative ideas to kick the drowsiness and conduct effective meetings.
