In order to be more productive, apart from being focused, you need to have resources around you to that make you feel more efficient. We mean the way you arrange and decorate your workplace directly effects your productivity. Definitely there are many tips to make your office fun-filled and less stressed, but one of the these is to create a greener and friendlier office environment.
Start with planting, in real! Occupying a spacious desk in a multi-storey building might be the only comforting factor for you in the office space, but it needs a personal touch too. Bring some small plants with mild fragrance and place it on your desk. Think about it, the pile of files and random papers will look less messy in shadow of the plant. Studies have also proved that green colour plants are one of the key elements that brings positive energy in the surroundings and help in focusing on important tasks. In fact, many coworking spaces in Delhi and other metro cities have adopted this method to make their centres more environment friendly.
Not everything about ‘Greener Office’ is green. Jill Doucette, author of “Greening Your Office” and founder of Synergy, a British Columbia-based environmental consulting firm that helps companies “green” their operations once said,
“There’s an opportunity for almost everyone in an office to cut their paper consumption in half just by being really aware of it and giving themselves that challenge”
Printing every single mail is no more a requirement, it is sheer laziness. Your worth-investing softwares are designed with an efficiency to organize a trail chain of mails that you just need to learn. Instead of getting the necessary prints, you should practice leveraging e-platforms for the document circulation.
To make your surroundings better, start with the roads. The more alert and conscious step you will take in this direction, the more satisfaction you will gain. To reduce the pollution and stress that you carry with yourself at your workplace, look for option like Carpooling and sharing public transportation.
We all have been a part of lifestyle, where gadgets like Laptop, Mobile Phones, Music Systems and others always on standby for charging. The small step to save the electricity will not only help you live a longer life, but also increase the life of your gadgets.
· Set computer to go to “sleep” after five minutes
· Always shut laptops when you are done for the day
· Keep your mobile phones off or on the Airplane mode while charging
· Do not leave any device for charging overnight
What small steps you take, call them out in front of your friends. If possible, create a small group that promotes such activities, so that green office designs become the new office trends. The changes you have seen can be an experience one is looking for, therefore do not hesitate while prompting these tips.
