5 myths about coworking space and its reality revealed

Usage of coworking space has grown in the past couple of years. As with each new innovative idea many misconceptions can arise due to lack of knowledge or data on the subject. Coworking is a novel new arrangement whereby members of different companies all work together in a shared space.

Let us debunk a few myths related to coworking space:

1. Coworking space is like working at home or a coffee shop:

Coworking spaces differ from home or coffee shops as they provide a professional environment to work from. If you work from home you are constantly dealing with disruptions from family members and kids, which makes it difficult to keep focus on work. Also, coffee shops or restaurants might provide free WIFI, however apart from the constant distractions from the shoppers around, you would not be able to work from there the entire day.

2. Coworking space is expensive:

Traditional office space are generally taken on rent. You would need to take into account not only the rental of the office space but also the miscellaneous costs such as furniture, IT & Telecoms costs associated with it. As you are aware the price of the office depends on its location, and to take up a space in a prime location could be very expensive.

Similarly if you were to take a coworking space in Delhi or a coworking space in Gurgaon, you would still get a seat in a prime location without the astronomical cost.

3. Coworking spaces are for freelancers and startups:

Though a majority of freelancers and startup businesses do take up coworking space due to the low costs associated with it. That does not mean that established companies cannot take advantage of its benefits. If your company has team members that are often required to work from multiple locations then it is beneficial to have a dedicated space for them to work from. By utilizing the options of having a coworking space in Delhi or a coworking space in Gurgaon you can make it easier for them to focus on their work.

4. Coworking spaces are not secure:

Coworking spaces have access controls on the doors. Only by having he access card you would be allowed entry into the area. Apart from that there are CCTV cameras to monitor who is entering or exiting the location. There is also security guards present 24*7 to handle any security situation that might arise.

5. Coworking spaces provide no flexibility or growth

Coworking spaces are great because they provide flexibility. If you have a sales person who needs to be a at various locations, you can book a workstation for them in the coworking space in Delhi and the coworking space in Gurgaon. This will allow them to get to their desk to their sales meetings efficiently and effectively.

Likewise if you have a team member who is going to be working for a couple of months you can book an extra workstation for them for that duration of time.
