5 Ways To Keep Your Employees Happy

Sitting on the manager’s seat is a three-way task. You have to keep the customers happy, that is important for the business. You have to keep your boss happy, that is important for your job. You must keep your employees happy too, as it is important to keep the other two happy.

Happy employees ensure better work results. Especially, if you are in the service industry, it becomes important to have a well-maintained staff to provide unmatched services. An unhappy employee can create stress among other employees, thus reducing the productivity or damaging the work environment.

So if you are at the decision-making level, follow these tips to manage your employees.

1. Make yourself accessible

Reach out to your employees to keep yourself informed. Have a friendly relation with everyone at work. You don’t need to peep into everyone’s life personally, but having an extremely strict attitude is not recommended.

2. Don’t delay

Once you get to know about some problem within your staff, take an action as immediately as possible. Delays can cause the problem to grow bigger and make the situation worse. Whereas quick action would let the employees develop trust in you as their manager.

3. Communicate effectively

Remember if you are at a higher post, you ought to be more humble. Be polite in your communications. Discuss the problems nicely and convey your messages clearly. Stick to your words. If you promise to solve someone’s problem, do as you say. Actions speak louder than words, so talk politely, and do what is needed. Shouting aloud or harsh statements would only worsen the situation.

4. It may take some time

The problem solving procedure may take some time. You or your employee might feel restless about it. You need to realize and convey that sometimes, it is okay to wait. In case, there is some problem that cannot be solved, explain it to your employee and try to find some alternative. Mind that you must stay calm while doing all this.

5. Maintain your records

Keep records of everything that goes around you. Record all the problems that occur, the discussions that take place, the actions taken to resolve the issues. Keep these records confidential. This will help you in the long-run. You will stay more updated, and you can track your growth as a manager.

Being in the management team brings big responsibilities. You really have to “manage” everything. A manager becomes the face of the company for the customers and a mentor for the employees. Keeping calm is the first rule to be a good manager, rest, if you have a happy staff, things become much more manageable.
