Do you feel that company meetings are not as effective as they are supposed to be? Is effective meetings oxymoron for you?

 

The truth is, if you are managing a team, you cannot avoid a meeting with them. A face-to-face discussion is necessary at times. Meetings also play a role in team building.

 

Some meeting etiquette can help you to conduct effective meetings. Here are some ways you can make company meetings worth coming for the attendees.

 

Time is Money!

 

Nobody likes lengthy meetings. According to a survey conducted by a business centre in Delhi, 34% of the respondents said that lengthy, time-consuming meetings affect their work productivity adversely. Try to keep the meetings short and fast.

 

Morning is generally the most productive time of the day, so if you want to make creative decisions, let the meeting be the first thing of the day in office. If you just want to have a look at the monthly reports, the second half of the day is a good time.

 

Speak Your Mind!

 

How often do you see that a meeting ends abruptly with a top manager giving a speech? As a team leader, you should not let this happen. Everyone attending the meeting deserves a chance to talk. Thus, make sure you give enough time at the end of the meeting to take up their questions.

 

Meetings Can Be Fun!

 

The thought of a meeting itself is boring and you know that. Don’t let your meetings become more boring with mundane discussions.

 

Try to find some interesting ways to make meetings fun. How about having standing meetings? Researches show that standing meetings can improve productivity. The best way to keep meetings interesting is to keep them short and crisp.

 

Love them or hate them, you cannot avoid them. Meetings are important and productive meetings are more important. Meetings should not be a nightmare or another reason to feel sleepy in office for your team mates.
